CSIR- OSDD has
established a CSIR-OSDD Research Unit at Indian Institute of Science (IISc),
Bangalore; as an open lab for facilitating OSDD’s drug discovery efforts. The
Unit will henceforth coordinate the informatics and wet-lab activities of
OSDD. Members of OSDD community are welcome to come in
and spent time on any research problem posted on the Sysborg portal. Dr. T.S.
Balganesh, Head OSDD Unit and renowned scientist on TB drug discovery will be
functioning from the Unit and will be available for guidance. Dr. U.C. Jaleel will be the PI in
charge of the Unit. The Unit also invites researchers on TB, Malaria, drug
discovery and development to spent short sabbatical periods doing specific
projects of interest to the OSDD community.PI’s interested in research visit and availing the facilities at
the open lab are requested to inform Dr. Jaleel in advance to book the slot for
the research visit. Participants will

discovery of novel therapies for neglected diseases like TB and Malaria, CSIR-OSDD signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) with Royal
Society of Chemistry (RSC), the largest
European organisation for advancing chemical sciences on 29th Jan 2013. The MoU signing ceremony, conducted at the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, Anusandhan Bhawan was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Science & Technology Minister, Shri Jaipal Reddy. |

The
OSDD-VP Short Video Competition on “The Need of New Drugs for TB” had 175
participants across
the country submitting their entries. 23 films / videos have been shortlisted
for final evaluation
by a jury constituted by Vigyan Prasar (VP), based on the following criteria:
- Terms
and Conditions for participation as stipulated and advertised by VP & CSIR-OSDD
- Relevance
of the film to the topic "Need of new drugs for TB".
- Content
and scripts, Quality and accuracy
- Aesthetic
aspects including Direction, Cinematography, Animation/ Graphics/, Special
Effects, Editing, Sound, etc.
- Clarity
of communication and effective message
These entries will be evaluated by another jury at
Kolkata on 6th January 2013 and prizes will be distributed on 7th January 2013.
One representative (director or producer) of each team can participate in the science
film festival. VP will provide reimbursement limited to AC II fare by shortest
route and lodging boarding will also be provided to one participant per entry.
